Springlea, Aberlady, Scotland.

The original house located in Aberlady was dark, had a very small kitchen and did not relate to the garden. We planned a new glazed kitchen room to take advantage of the sunlight and the garden, forming a kitchen family room.

The wall is glazed to the garden which also gives the house a sea view and sunlight floods in through the glass screens. The roof is kicked up on the west to direct evening sunlight into the plan. The materials are a simple steel frame with aluminium timber windows and cedar cladding. the roof is formed in lead.
